The Work First program was established in the late nineties as a part of the federal initiative to end welfare. Through a partnership with the Department of Social Services, Goodwill has been able to offer job training to individuals who lack the skills, training or education to find a job and become self-sufficient.

Participants attend an orientation, a vocational evaluation and the Job Preparedness class. Through a series of exercises, participants find confidence and learn how to present themselves on a resume and in an interview. Goodwill helps participants complete applications and arrange interviews until they accept a position.
