Triad Goodwill Expands Retail Store & Donation Center in Burlington, NC

Triad Goodwill is thrilled to announce and celebrate the expansion of the existing Retail Store and Donation Center located at 3740 S. Church Street in Burlington, NC. The extensive renovations and expansion were complete on December 1 and expanded the store’s sales floor by 3,430 square feet!

The S. Church St. location opened in November of 2012 and has been a popular shopping and donation destination for Alamance county for the past 10 years. On average, the store serves 1,500 shoppers weekly and receives approximately 800 donations per week.

“The Burlington community has been very welcoming and generous the past 10-years,” explains Celeste MacMurdo, executive vice president of retail operations at Triad Goodwill. “The sheer number of donations this site receives required a larger space to keep the product local.”

Shoppers will be thrilled to learn that the sales floor has grown from 8,128 square feet to an impressive, 11,558 square feet and features 120 linear feet of hard goods (furniture, housewares, media, etc.) and 400 linear feet of textiles. The former Career Center classrooms will remain operable for local needs, and all other space has been utilized for retail or common space for employees, shoppers, and donors.

This location will also permanently house the well-known, pop-up boutique, Willows By Goodwill, which features hand-selected, designer and name-brand accessories, jewelry, gifts, and clothing pieces. The pop-up boutique was previously only available for shopping at special events and fundraisers but will now occupy 1,000 square feet of the store!

“This expansion is possible and necessary thanks to our incredibly generous donors,” explains Brady Craven, district manager for Triad Goodwill. “The quality of donations this location receives is outstanding. And thanks to our donors, shoppers, and volunteers, we’re able to provide more services to job seekers in our communities,” says Craven. “Plus, we’re adding 120 team member hours per week for this location – that’s equivalent to 3 full-time hires, all because of this communities’ support.”

Triad Goodwill improves the lives of individuals in the community through no-cost and low-cost education, training, and employment opportunities. Their programs help people overcome the barriers that separate them from gainful, long-term employment.

The store will celebrate the renovation Thursday, December 8 – Saturday, December 10 with prizes, giveaways, and a few other surprises.

The retail store will be open for shopping Monday – Saturday 10:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m., and open on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. The donation center will be open Monday – Saturday 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. and Sunday, from 1:00 p.m. 6:00 p.m.
