“The staff at Triad Goodwill’s Mayodan and Reidsville Career Centers are a great team,” says Zack Hopkins. Zack first heard about the Career Centers through NC Works of Rockingham County.
Both teams helped keep Zack motivated towards his goal of obtaining his General Education Diploma (GED), which he completed through a partnership with NC Works of Rockingham County and Rockingham County Community College.
They also inspired him to reach his personal goal of earning his Six Sigma Green Belt Certification. “After a lot of studying, I gained this certification,” says Zack. This certification shows employers that an individual has the skills to analyze and solve problems. “Thanks to the staff at both the Mayodan and Reidsville Career Centers for their help and guidance through this process.”
He also took away a lot of personal and professional experiences during his time with the Career Centers. “I learned how to defuse conflicts between people and how to deal with others,” he said. He also gained confidence in his abilities, which is something he struggled with in the past.
Zack shares that, “these teams partnering together helped me grow as an individual and made me an employable candidate.”
He would like to thank the staff of both the Mayodan and Reidsville Career Centers for their assistance with his resume and career guidance, as well as the instructors at the Reidsville Career Center for their encouragement and patience while he was taking classes.
Zack also said, “Thank you, Melinda Bernard [Triad Goodwill’s Digital Skills Coordinator} for your advice towards a career in the technology field.” Lastly, Zach would like to thank NC Works of Rockingham County for pointing him in the right direction.
“These partnerships are a valuable asset to the community. I would highly encourage anyone to utilize these resources, as they are full of great people who want to help you. Because of these teams, I can happily say, today I have a job at Spectrum!”
