On Tuesday, 8/10/21 the Guilford County Board of Commissioners acting in their separate role as the Guilford County Board of Health voted to impose a Mask Mandate ordinance to go into effect this Friday, 8/13/21 at 5pm. This ordinance states: “businesses and other public places must require their patrons to wear masks” and failure to do so can result in civil fines for the business.

Based on the passage of this ordinance, Goodwill Industries of Central North Carolina stores located within Guilford County will comply and post appropriate signage alerting our customers that they are required to wear masks to enter the building. This ordinance is similar to the previous mask mandate and has several exceptions noted to allow for masks not to be worn. As such, we will follow our previous protocol and advise anyone that enters the store without a mask that it is required, but we will not question them any further if they remain in the store. Employees working in our Guilford County locations are also required to wear masks while working or congregating in public spaces. If you have any questions, please speak with your manager or you may contact Dwight Crotts directly at the Home Office.

This ordinance only affects our Guilford County locations. We will continue to monitor the local municipal governments in our other counties for guidance and will forward any changes if they occur.
