It’s the most wonderful time of year for those who love all things spooky! Bring on the treats, tricks, and of course, costumes and decorations! Instead of spending too much at a big box store on basic decorations, or ordering a run of the mill costume online, swing by your local Triad Goodwill and let your creepy, creative costume and décor juices flow!

Costumes: DIY Goes a Long Way!
A few key pieces you can spot at your local Goodwill can be the foundations for any costume you’re trying to create. Here are a few of our favorite ideas to help get you started.
Mmmmm Brains!
Here’s what you need:
- Combat Boots
- Leggings or jeans
- Skirt / Dress
- Jacket or shirt
- Red paint or fake blood
- Pair of scissors / cheese grater
How to do it:
- Build your look
- Scratch and tear it up
- Spill some brains (paint or fake blood) on it
The Sweetest & Deerest!
Here’s what you need (for you and your little deer):
- Brown leggings
- Brown long sleeve shirts
- Brown furry vests / jackets / scarfs
- Brown boots – the furrier the better!
- Face paint / makeup
- Headband*
- Fake flowers*
- Fake antlers*
- Hot glue gun*
*can be found at a local craft store, if you can’t spot them at your local Goodwill!
How to do it:
- Build your outfit
- Paint your face
- Hot glue the antlers and flowers to your headband – let dry – and wear!
Nerd Alert!
Here’s what you need:
- BOLD print button up shirt (don’t be afraid to look in both the men’s and women’s department for this!)
- Pleated pants (again – pop into both the men’s and women’s section!)
- White shoes
- Glasses (depending on your location you may be able to find some before they are donated to the local Lion’s Club)
How to do it:
- Button that shirt all the way up and tuck it all the way in!
- Pull those pants right up! And roll them up at the cuffs
- Pop those glasses on –add some tape in the middle for a little extra!
