In 2011, Greensboro native, Kenneth Brown was looking for a job when he learned about Triad Goodwill’s Charles and Betty Younce Career Center from a friend.
“My friend said they have a great team who can help if you’re unemployed” explained Brown. Deciding to try it out, he found a strong support system while searching for a job.
The team at Triad Goodwill was able to help Kenneth create, develop, and improve his resume to impress potential employers. They explained how to include dates of employment, experience, and how to express his strengths.
“Now, when employers see my resume, they know what I have on the list, and see if I have that same attitude in an interview.”
In addition to receiving assistance with his resume, Kenneth learned the importance of dressing for success when meeting employers. “Goodwill taught, that you need to come presentable with a suit and tie and make sure your attitude comes with it. You gotta have attitude.”
After submitting his resume to various employers, he interviewed at a local Harris Teeter and was hired right away.
Kenneth has been working full-time at Harris Teeter for the past three years, and in 2019 he was awarded Employee of the Month at his store.
“Goodwill has wonderful people that want to see you succeed. I’m really happy and thankful that Goodwill helped me.”
