An interactive event facilitated by Triad Goodwill and hosted by Randolph County Housing Coalition, Inc.
GREENSBORO, NC – Goodwill Industries of Central North Carolina, Inc. (Triad Goodwill) has partnered with Randolph County Housing Coalition, Inc. for the upcoming event, Living With Less: A Poverty Simulation. The event will take place on Wednesday, August 6 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Cross Road Baptist Church located at 1566 Old Cox Road, Asheboro, NC 27205. This no-cost, interactive simulation outlines challenges nearly 1 in 7 Randloph County residents living in poverty experience daily. Participants will step into the shoes of a low- income family member working to make ends meet over the course of a month. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of poverty in our community and how to address the underlying causes and present challenges.
“We are excited to offer this immersive experience in Randolph County and to have so many leaders already registered to attend,” said Celina McCrea, community and business engagement manager for Triad Goodwill. “This simulation always leads to inspiring and insightful conversations on how to make a community more accessible to all of its residents—and we hope to have the same impact in Asheboro.”
This partnered event is a collaboration between several organizations in Randolph county, including NCWorks, Lydia’s Place, the Randolph County Public Library, Cross Road Baptist Church, and is sponsored by Brightview Health. The event will begin with guest speaker, and Asheboro City Manager, Donald Duncan, then proceed into the interactive simulation, and conclude with a catered dinner and a debrief of the evening. The Poverty Simulation is open to the public, and ideal for HR professionals, business leaders, community and government leaders, and front-line support staff.
