We’re in the heart of December, and with the holidays around the corner, it’s time to bring out the sparkly sequins and festive looks. If you need a last-minute holiday outfit, try shopping sustainably and head to your nearest Goodwill! In today’s blog, I share holiday trends and how to shop for them on your next thrift trip. Let’s dive in!

What to Look For

Before heading into Goodwill, I made a want list. A want list is anything I want to find. This helps me to avoid getting overwhelmed while shopping. One of the popular trends of the season is red, so that was a priority on my list. Red is an excellent color for holiday festivities and it will stand the test of time. I also noted greens and plaid, because they are perfect for Christmas gatherings. I kept my personal style in mind also. I love wearing leather, sequins, and feathers for the holidays, so I made a note of those as well. Whatever your style is for the holidays, list the items you want to find.

How To Shop

Whenever you plan to take a Goodwill trip, give yourself time to freely browse. One of my joys of shopping at Goodwill is you can find one-of-a-kind gently used pieces for unbeatable prices. Giving yourself time to shop will make the trip fun and less stressful.

The best way I tackle a thrift store is by finding the corresponding aisle related to my wants. Red was a color I was looking for, so I went down the long-sleeved top section and went to a rack full of red tops. Luckily, many Triad Goodwill locations are color-coordinated so it is easy to find a specific color. I repeated the same steps with green and also browsed white tops.

Glam pieces like sequins, leather, and feathers were tricky to find because they were unique. Unique items can vary depending on the location. I usually succeed in finding unique items in the dresses, two-piece sets, or blazer aisles. These are stand-alone racks so you can shop down one aisle. Check out what I found browsing those racks!

Before you Seal The Deal

Anytime I shop, I always try on everything. Sometimes the size of an item can be deceiving and vary depending on the brand. What is displayed on the hanger, may look completely different on the body. I recommend wearing a jumpsuit or leggings into the store for an easy trying-on process.

What I Purchased

To conclude, this holiday shopping trip was a success! I found a red blazer and denim skirt perfect for my Christmas party, and a feather-trim jumpsuit with leather kitten heels are excellent for this New Year’s Eve! The clothing items all together totaled $25 and will be perfect for this holiday season.

I hope this blog encourages and inspires you to shop Triad Goodwill for your holiday outfits! If you already found holiday pieces, please share what you found by leaving a comment below! Happy Styling and have an amazing holiday season!
