Goodwill Alterations with Chanté Gibbs

I knew Goodwill offered Christmas decorations, so I decided to go to the dress section first. After searching through the rack, I found a cute white dress with a cutout in the front. I fell in love with the soft texture.

Then I went towards the front of the store where the holiday decorations are at, and I found a pack of colorful gift bows that would contrast well with the dress.

How do I make it?

1. After I opened the bag of gift bows, I placed the dress on my mat and laid out the bows directly on the dress to figure out placement. I knew I wanted to be able to sit down while wearing the dress, so I decided the bows would only be on the front.

2. Once I chose a layout, I glued each bow down one by one with my glue gun.

3. Once the glue dried, I tried on the dress to see the final look.

What was your inspiration?

I was inspired by one of my coworkers in an ugly sweater contest at my job! She had a ton of bows and Christmas tree ornaments on her sweater, which gave me the idea to incorporate my own take on gift decorations, but in a more fashionable way.

And, here are 5 more gift ideas you can get from the thrift store this holiday season:

  1. Books/Journals
  2. Vintage Jewelry
  3. Clothing/Accessories
  4. Vintage Home Decor
  5. DIY Gift Basket
