Success Story: Damien W.

Triad Goodwill’s Home Office at 1235 S. Eugene street in Greensboro is a BUSY place. There’s an ongoing parade of trucks (of all sizes) coming and going, with hundreds of pounds of donated clothing, shoes, books, toys, housewares, and more. Our donors and shoppers keep our logistics team on their toes, and Damien leads the team to ensure all our 25 locations are packed with great thrift finds 7 days a week!

Damien started his career at Triad Goodwill after learning about a part-time Donation Attendant position from one of our long-time employees (20-year club member), Michael. After holding that position for several years, Damien began driving trucks for Triad Goodwill as a Truck Driver 1 and then was promoted to Donations Manager.

As his positions evolved, Damien participated in Triad Goodwill’s internal training program, Goodwill Academy (which has been renamed) where he was able to grow as a leader, and as a person.

“Goodwill has allowed me to achieve things that I had no plans to achieve when I first started. I have been able to grow and move up in the organization, as well as receive internal training that has not only helped me become a better leader, but has allowed me to become a better person,” explains Damien.

In September of 2022 Damien began pursuing his Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Triad Goodwill’s CDL Training program. This program is available to employees and the public alike. In October, he graduated with his Class A CDL license. “For those of you who may be reluctant to reach out to Goodwill, I would say don’t let things people have told you keep you from bettering yourself. Goodwill has many paths and opportunities to help point you in the direction you’re looking to go.”

After spending 17 years with Triad Goodwill, Damien shares that he has learned that being selfless is a good thing. “Always work to help others improve themselves and you will be rewarded yourself.”
