Triad Goodwill Offering 4-Week Commercial Driver’s License Program

GREENSBORO, NC –Goodwill Industries of Central North Carolina, Inc. (Triad Goodwill) announces new partnership with local truck driving academy, Lorac Academy. The new partnership will begin in February 2024. Students will complete the Entry Level Driving Training Courses and Road Range Training needed to qualify for Class A & B licensure. Upon completing the program students will receive one-on-one placement assistance from both Triad Goodwill and Lorac Academy.

“We are very excited about our partnership with David and Lorac Academy,” says John Totty, director of workforce development at Triad Goodwill. “They are a perfect fit with our mission here at Triad Goodwill and we are looking forward to providing this outstanding training opportunity to our participants.”

“The importance of the partnership and how it can positively impact job seekers in the community, is that it will bridge the gaps in our solo operations,” explains David Williams, president of Lorac Academy. “We are here to guide you into the right career change and join an industry with a high demand for new drivers. Right now, we’re in a shortage of 80,000 truck drivers and it’s expected by year 2030 to be a shortage of 160,000 drivers.”

The Triad Goodwill and Lorac Class A CDL Training Program costs $3,000 which includes a physical exam, drug screening, permit, and skill exam. Class B Training is $2,800. Triad Goodwill’s Career Navigation team will assist students who qualify by obtaining scholarships and special discounted fees.

New classes begin every Monday and take place at Lorac Academy at 2105 Pyramid Village Blvd. Ste. 103, Greensboro, NC 27405. Both Triad Goodwill and Lorac Academy are committed to providing career opportunities to individuals with justice involvement.
