Tumbled™ By Triad Goodwill Now Available at 2 Retail Stores in Central NC
GREENSBORO, NC – Goodwill Industries of Central North Carolina, Inc. (Triad Goodwill) is thrilled to announce the launch of their new recycling initiative, Repurposed™ By Triad Goodwill and the line’s introductory product, Tumbled™ by Goodwill. Tumbled™ is craft glass made from 100% donated recycled material from Triad Goodwill Retail Stores. The soft and smooth glass is reminiscent of sea glass and can be used in jewelry making, crafting, and so much more!
“We receive thousands of pounds of donated glassware each year – and in the past, we collaborated with our recycling partners to move items that didn’t sell. But to be even more sustainable and reduce our downstream impact we began exploring ways to upcycle our glassware,” explains Celeste MacMurdo, executive vice president of operations for Triad Goodwill. “As we move forward, we hope to tumble more products, with the goal of all unsold glass and ceramics being tumbled or crushed by the end of 2024.”
The tumbling process takes place at Triad Goodwill’s production warehouse in downtown Greensboro. The glass is broken in specialized equipment, sifted by size, and tumbled by size, and then air dried.
Tumbled™ by Goodwill is made with 100% donated recycled material, and just like all items in store, 85 cents of every dollar fund Triad Goodwill’s job training programs. The glass will be packaged in approximately 16oz bags for $3.99 and available in three different sizes – small, medium, large and a variety of colors. You can find Tumbled™ at the following stores, now:
3921 Battleground Ave, Greensboro
3740 S. Church St., Burlington
Over the next few months, the organization will expand its offering of sizes, colors, and materials to additional locations. If you would like to learn more about this product, please contact us for more information.
