Q: You mentioned thrifting with your mom when you were young. Do you still go?
A: I do still shop at Goodwill! Not so much with my mom unfortunately since she lives at the beach now. But I definitely inherited my love of good deals from her!
Q: What’s your mom’s best thrifting tip?
A: Go often! See it as an adventure, and sometimes you will have to search hard for a “treasure.”
Q: Would you say that’s your favorite advice to give too, or do you have your own?
A: I like having to be creative with imaging how I would style the piece — in a way that may not be how you see it in the store. So that would probably be my favorite tip, to use your imagination.
Q: Ooh, I love that. Do you have a favorite store?
A: I frequent the Samet Drive store in High Point, since it is the closest to my house, but I’ve been impressed with the new Greensboro store recently!
Q: What’s the best thing you found there lately? And, what do you like to shop for the most?
A: I found some vintage jeans that I was excited about. Funny enough, my favorite thing to look for are knick knacks or picture frames. Those kinds of things can be so eclectic, and I always enjoy repurposing those sorts of items. I’m also a coffee cup hoarder, so I always like to look for random or funny ones to add to my collection.
Q: Do you have a favorite memory from shopping with your mom?
A: I can’t think of a single memory; I just remember thinking how cool it was to thrift growing up because my mom got so excited for deals and that made me excited, too.
Q: You’ve done some amazing fall thrifting art on our store doors recently! Do you have a personal favorite from that project?
A: Thank you! I think honestly, my favorite thing was the “Fall in love with thrifting” project. It was fun to go to so many stores that I didn’t even know were around me. I also just really love fall time, so painting fall scenery really set the tone for the season for me!
