New Retail Store & Donation Center Coming to West Gate City Blvd. in 2024

GREENSBORO, NC – Goodwill Industries of Central North Carolina, Inc. (Triad Goodwill) is breaking ground at their newest Retail Store and Donation Center in Greensboro. The organization will begin construction at their recently acquired property located at 5835 W. Gate City Blvd., Greensboro NC 27407 with the anticipated opening in early 2024. Employees, board members, building partners, and community partners will participate in the ceremony on Thursday, June 8 at 10:00 a.m. to commemorate the building of the new 12,576 sq foot building.

“We have wanted to build in this area for the past 5-8 years as it’s an area that we do not presently serve,” explains Celeste MacMurdo, executive vice president of operations at Triad Goodwill. “We purchased the property in 2020 and now, after 3-years we’re able to start developing this land and serving this community.”

The new Retail Store and Donation center will be Triad Goodwill’s 26 store and will expand the organization’s mission of helping community members gain employment through career services and training programs. “Increasing our reach not only provides great shopping opportunities for our community, but also allows more individuals to donate their unwanted items and keep them out of local landfills,” says Teresa Smith East, vice president of marketing from Triad Goodwill. “The more people donate and shop, the more items stay out of landfills, and ultimately the more people we can serve through our programs. It’s truly a win-win-win.”

The new facility will employ approximately 20 full-time and part-time employees as well as provide volunteer opportunities. The organization intends to keep their current location at 3739 W. Gate City Blvd. in full operation during and after construction and opening. Construction is set to start upon the groundbreaking and is being led by Lomax Construction. Design partners include West & Stem Architects, PPLC, DMP Engineers & Surveyors, Preferred Engineering, Absolute Engineering, and several others.

Triad Goodwill’s mission of improving lives and enriching communities through the power of work is possible thanks to the organization’s donors and shoppers. 85 cents of every dollar spent in their stores or online at Shopgoodwill.com/Greensboro goes back to the organization’s Career Development Services (CDS) programs.
