Strategic Partnership to Expand Career Pathways for Healthier Communities
GREENSBORO, NC – Goodwill Industries of Central North Carolina, Inc. (Triad Goodwill) and UnitedHealth Group are partnering to expand career pathways training to foster healthier communities. UnitedHealth Group and Goodwill Industries International recently announced a three-year, $4.5 million strategic partnership to increase access to education and training, health-related social needs support, and workforce development opportunities in 25 states through 38 Goodwill® organizations. The partnership aims to help people overcome barriers to obtaining long-term, higher-paying employment.
Career Navigation is at the heart of Triad Goodwill’s Career Development Services,” explains Jessica Schultz, vice president of career development services for Triad Goodwill. “This holistic approach to workforce development means we consider and plan for all parts of someone’s unique journey so that they have the tools necessary to achieve their goals. We are honored to be recognized for our efforts and supported by UnitedHealth Group who are lifting this best practice and acknowledging the vital relationship between work and health.”
This funding will allow Triad Goodwill to provide comprehensive support to help job seekers move successfully into promising careers. This will include financial literacy tools, and life skills resources to encourage individuals to better engage in their health and social drivers of health (SDOH). It will also provide support to identify barriers individuals may face to accessing employment, including transportation and childcare. Both organizations will collaborate with public and private sectors to develop skilled talent for specific career paths matching current local hiring needs.
